Lawrence "Elliot" Doney, 57, passed away on Wednesday, May 17, 2017, in Hiawatha, KS, due to natural causes. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 25, 2017, at the St. Paul Mission Church in Hays, with burial to follow in the Mission Cemetery. Elliot was born on March 19, 1960, in Fort Belknap to Bruce and Ida (Cuts the Rope) Doney. He was raised in Hays, graduating from Hays High School in 1978. Elliot became a father soon after, to Lawrence "Hofie" Adams, whom he had with Mel Adams of Harlem. Soon after graduation, Elliot moved to Kansas with Sam and John, and there he met Jean Ann in 2001. The couple married in 2005 in Hays, and made their home in Kansas, residing in Hiawatha for the past several years. He worked as a laborer in a road construction crew until his declining health required him to retire.

Elliot was a kind-hearted and giving man, who enjoyed joking around. He was very particular about his appearance, and worked very hard to provide for his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bruce and Ida Doney; his brothers Bruce "Buzz" Doney and John Doney; and his nephew DJ Crasco.

Elliot is survived by his wife Jean Ann Doney of KS; son Lawrence E. "Hofie" Adams (Morning Flower Howard) of Fort Belknap; daughter Kimberly Denton of KS; two stepchildren, Sean MeNotti and Tim MeNotti; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother Sam Doney of MO; sisters Violet (Darryl) Crasco and Loretta "Letty" (Vincent) Hawley, all of Hays, and Florence "Fluff" (Don) Horn of Fort Belknap; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family and friends.
