Obituary

Maxine Naber, 99, of Havre, passed away Wednesday morning, April 25, 2018, at the Sweet Memorial Nursing Home in Chinook, MT due to natural causes. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 30, 2018, at Highland Cemetery. Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with services and arrangements. Lethia Maxine Geesey was born June 30, 1918, north of Inverness, Montana. She was the youngest of seven children born to Versa I. (Clink) and George S. Geesey. Maxine was raised on the family farm and attended country schools north of Inverness.

As a young woman, Maxine followed her sister, Wilma, to Sand Point, Idaho and worked at the hospital there. After returning to Montana, she worked at the hospital in Boulder, Montana. She returned to Havre and worked at Buttrey's Department Store. After many years spent as a mother and homemaker, Maxine went to work at Northern Montana Hospital, as a housekeeper and worked there until her retirement.

On July 11, 1945, she was united in marriage to Charles C. Naber in Havre. To this union four children were born; Duane, Donald, Donna, and Dale. She and Charlie owned and operated Havre Landscaping. Her husband, Charlie, passed away March 2, 1965.

Maxine was able to stay at home until a few weeks ago. With an active mind, she enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles, and playing a wicked hand of cards with family. She also sewed many baby quilts for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Maxine was an avid supporter of her children's and grandchildren's academic, athletic, artistic and musical endeavors. Her family was her pride and joy.

Maxine is preceded in death by her husband, Charles C. Naber; parents, George S. and Versa I. Geesey; brothers, Elwin and Frank Geesey; sisters, Minnie (Roy) Stanberry, Mary Geesey, Dortha Naber and Wilma (Bill) Ball.

Surviving Maxine is one daughter, Donna (Harold) Vaile of Fort Worth, Texas; three sons, Duane (Virginia) Naber, Donald (Kristy) Naber, and Dale (Mary) Naber all of Havre; nine grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
