Obituary

Kyle Lee Simonson, 63, passed peacefully, July 31, 2025, at home surrounded by family in Polk City Iowa. He was born April 11, 1962, to Earl Simonson and Sally Wood, in Boone Iowa.

At the age of roughly 2 years old, Kyle suffered a severe brain injury. He had to learn to crawl and walk again, but he never regained the ability to speak. He continued to grow with a comprehensive understanding of the simple things in life.

Kyle moved to Havre, Montana, in 1976 with his mom and younger brother, Brian.  He lived here until 2004 when Sally took him back to Charles City IA.  In Iowa, Kyle was surrounded, loved, and cared for by his numerous family members there.

Kyle found happiness in the world around him. Through his laughter and his bear hugs, Kyle spread love to all who encountered him. Kyle was living his best life these last several years. He was boating, biking, traveling, and cheering at all the nieces' and nephews' activities. "He saw the world through eyes untouched by judgement, and in doing so, showed us how to be better people. His life was a reminder that every soul has infinite worth, and that love doesn't need to be spoken to be deeply felt."

He was preceded in death by his parents: Earl Simonson, Sally Wood, and Jerry Wood

He is survived by: Mom Annette Simonson, Fairfield IA; Brothers Kevin Simonson, Callendar IA; Greg Wood, Ennis MT; Brian Simonson (Sherri) Helena MT; Steve (Sherri) Ruzek, Polk City IA; Jeff (Jamie) Simonson, Janesville MN; Sisters Gayle Bachini, West Point, VA; Anne (Kevin) Vaughan, Norwalk IA; Jen (Chad) Halupnick, Polk City, IA; Kris (Paul) Miller, Batavia, IA; Laura (Kyle) Kelly, Polk City, IA.

A small graveside service will be held at 11:am Saturday, October 25th, at the Highland Cemetery where Kyle will be laid to rest next to his Mother. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be sent to the Havre Day Activity Center. There will be a fellowship gathering after the service.
