It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Kyle Joseph (“Kyle J”) McLean of Havre, MT. Kyle passed away unexpectedly at his home on July 12th, 2026, at the age of 41. Born on May 19th, 1985, to Dixie Brough and Joe McLean, Kyle was raised in Havre, MT and graduated from Havre High School in 2003 before adventuring to California. A few years later, Kyle returned to Havre and soon after began working at IGA within the meat department, before taking on a manager position with what is now Stokes. He was a quiet kid, rambunctious teenager, and grew to be a kind man. As a child, he spent almost every summer camping with his Grandpa Ed. Throughout many of his formative years he could be found hunting, traveling with his family, participating in karate, and playing soccer and computer games. As an adult, Kyle spent his Saturday’s lunching with his mom and family, enjoying his Grandma Bonnie’s pumpkin pie, and playing pool with his dad. He loved his family deeply and enjoyed spending time with them, but similarly appreciated solitary moments spent reading, caring for his beloved dog, Knillida, and pursuing his longtime interest working with technology and building his own computers. Kyle was a man not easily summed into words, he was a smart, helpful, thoughtful, and kind person, devoted to those he cared about and was someone his sisters could call with a moment's notice for advice or help.
Kyle has joined his grandparents Ed and Bonnie Shiflett, along with Marge McLean in their eternal rest.
He is survived by his parents Dixie and Steve Brough and Joe and Jeanne McLean; along with his siblings Shelbi (Maxx) Brough, Shaylan (Clay) Hill, Kelsey McLean, Sarah (Shane) Mariani, Brooke McLean, and Jerrod Johnson; numerous aunts and uncles, including Wanda and Gary Richardson; cousins, including Mindy (Mike) Patterson, Sara (Chad) Edgar, whom he spent his adolescence growing up with; best-friend Brad; and numerous second-cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was truly a beloved son, brother, nephew, uncle, cousin, and friend who will be missed by many.
We will be holding a graveside service on Friday, July 17th, 2026 at 10:30 AM at the Havre cemetery to honor his life and passing. There will be no service to follow, as per what the family believes would be Kyle’s wishes.
