On January 14, 2026, Kurt Douglas Pehl, 56, of Havre, Montana died from heart complications.

He was born on July 21, 1969, to George William Pehl Jr and Madeline Carol Schmitt in Sheridan, MT.  He lived in Whitehall Montana attending Whitehall Elementary School.  His parents divorced in 1980 and he moved to Helena, Montana with his mother graduating from Helena High School in 1987.  He worked in janitorial service during his junior and senior years.  After graduation he enlisted in the National Guards.  After completing his basic training and AIT he attended Northern Montana College, in Havre, Montana.  He worked several jobs on the Hi-Line including Ryan's Wholesale Groceries, Swan's Food and Fed-Ex.  He loved selling to his customers, enjoying a good visit or a joke or two.  Most of all he enjoyed hunting and fishing with Grandpa Floyd and Uncle Jim.

Kurt was preceded in death by his father George Pehl Jr., Grandparents Floyd & Freda Schmitt and George & Jane Pehl, and Uncle Leo Schmitt.

Survivors include his mother and step-dad Madeline and Doug Engelking, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Life wasn't always easy, but he worked hard and fought a tough battle.  He will be missed by all.  Rest in peace my dear son.
