Karen Fern Doney, 69, of Box Elder, passed away on Monday, May 14, 2018 at Benefis Hospital in Great Falls.  A wake will start on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. and will continue until the funeral on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. all at The Living Waters Church; burial to follow at the Rocky Boy Cemetery.   Holland and Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. Karen was born on November 26, 1948 in Fort Belknap, MT to Joseph Demontiney and Agnes Sutherland Swan.  She was raised in Rocky Boy by her grandparents, Pete and Angeline Sutherland. Karen attended school in Rocky Boy and in 2000 graduated with a degree in Human Services from Stone Child College.  She worked in Medical Records for the Rocky Boy Clinic for many years until her retirement.

Family was important to Karen and she loved all of her family, adopted, fostered or otherwise.  She always cared for others and was the backbone of her family. She had a great sense of humor and enjoyed spending time on her porch and visiting with others.  Karen collected angels and other knick-knacks.

Karen is preceded in death by her son, Travis; parents, Joseph and Agnes; grandparents, who raised her, Pete and Angeline; brother, Peter; sisters, Sharon Zampich, Pearl Shendo, June Cox, Linda Demontiney, and Jolene Swan; special nieces, Jennifer DeCouteau and Angie Swan; and numerous other nieces, nephews and family.

She is survived by her husband of 24 years, Gary Doney of Box Elder; daughters, Rachel (Lydell Meyers) Sutherland and Claudette (Curtis) Oats all of Box Elder; grandchildren, Taneal, Tiana (Santana Stump), Taylah, Tyra, Jamie Sutherland all of Box Elder, Marshall, Tessia, Cheyenne, Xavier and Angela Sutherland, all of Great Falls, Nathan, Preston, Terra and Trevor Oats all of Rocky Boy;  great-granchildren, Charles LaMere and Tiorre and Jerisiah Stump all of Box Elder and 15 others;  brothers, Clifford (Melissa) Swan; Daniel (Marilyn) Sutherland, Clifford (Lydia) Sutherland; Joseph (Melinda) Demontiney, Peter (Victoria) Demontiney, James (Peggy) Demontiney, Pete "Bum" Demontiney, all of Box Elder and Jim Swan of Omak, WA; sisters, Dola Belcourt of Spokane, WA, Frieda Ameline, Jeanette Demontiney, Haley Demontiney, all of Box Elder, Marie Wilson, Yvonne Demontiney, Donita Sue Demontiney, Natalie Demontiney and Mary Demontiney all of Great Falls; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
