Karen Lynn Alexander, Ahs-ki-kah-pi-mo-teht (Earth Walker), 61, passed away due to natural causes at Benefis Healthcare on Friday, September 24, 2021. Wake services will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 25, 2021, and will continue until her funeral service which will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 27, 2021, all at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in the Rocky Boy Cemetery. Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
Karen was born on July 28, 1960, in Havre to Fred and Mary (Small) Alexander Windy Boy. Her mother passed away while she was still young, and her older sister, Elvira DayChild, raised her in Rocky Boy, and she attended school there. After her school years, she attended Bible college in Mobridge, SD. Many years later, after returning to Rocky Boy, Karen attended Stone Child College for a time. She spent the majority of her life in Rocky Boy where she helped raise her nieces, nephews, and grandchildren for her brothers and sisters, moving to The Ivy in Great Falls in 2015 for medical care.
Karen enjoyed beading, cooking, playing cards and dice, attending PowWows, playing Scratch-Its, and caring for her plants. She also enjoyed traveling by train, and loved painting her nails. Teasing and laughing with friends and family was her favorite pastime.
She was preceded in death by her infant son; parents, Fred and Mary Alexander Windy Boy; brothers, Kenneth, Milton, Curtis, Orin, and Alan Alexander; sisters, Mary Rose and Ila Denny, and Barbara Ann Alexander; nephews, Alton Boyd Alexander and Tyson Denny; niece, Coretta Denny; and numerous family members.
Karen is survived by her adopted daughter, Henrietta DayChild of Rocky Boy; adopted sons, Justin Allen DayChild of Rocky Boy, Alan Villeneuve of Great Falls, and Kingston Villeneuve of Rocky Boy; sister, Elvira (Henry) DayChild of Rocky Boy; brother, Sherman (Arlene Small of Hobbema, Alberta, Canada) Alexander of Havre; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family and friends.
