HAVRE ~ John P. Mastel, 91 of Havre died at the Northern Montana Care Center. He was born November 19, 1923 in Great Falls, Montana to John & Philamina (Schlick) Mastel the second child of six children: Anna, Barbara, Ralph, George and an infant that passed soon after birth. He was educated in Great Falls and later came to Havre where he worked for the Burlington & Northern Rail Road for 42 years living in the dowtown Havre district at 437 2nd Ave during most of that time. John was of Russian/German decent and he never married. He was an active member of St. Jude Thadious Catholic Church of Havre. He enjoyed collection guns and jewlery with precious stones and enjoyed history about WWII. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters: anna (Emil) Cassell; Barbara Stone; Brothers & sisters-in-law: Ralph (Angel) Mastel; George Mastel and an infant sister; Survivors include his nephew Larry (Sue) Cassell of Great Falls; his surviving sister-in-law Diane Mastel, wife of his late brother George; along with numerous nieces and nephews and many extended relatives.
