John Joseph Waldner, 82, of Hilldale Colony near Havre, passed away at his residence on Friday, September 28, 2012, of natural causes. Funeral services will be held at the Hilldale Hutterite Colony at noon on Monday, October 1, 2012, at the Hilldale Colony. Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with services and arrangements. John was born on October 20, 1929, in Magrath, Alberta, Canada, to Joseph and Rebecca Waldner. John attended school in Canada. He moved to Hilldale Colony from Pendroy, Montana, in 1963, and married Rebecca Waldner in 1965. Their union was blessed with three children. John and Rebecca spent their marriage on Hilldale Colony, working with their fellow colonists. John was a mechanic on the Colony for many years, and then was appointed to the position of Farm Boss. He enjoyed singing and reading. John was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Rebecca Waldner; his brothers Reverend Andrew Waldner of Hilldale Colony, George Waldner of Camrose Colony near Ledger, Montana, and Sam Waldner of Hartland Colony; and his sisters Rebecca Waldner of East End Colony and Elisabeth Hofer of Spring Water Colony. He is survived by his wife Rebecca Waldner of Hilldale Colony; his daughter Barbra (Jonathan) Waldner of Hilldale Colony; his sons Ben (Mary) Waldner of Hartland Colony and Leonard (Esther) Waldner of Hilldale Colony; his fourteen grandchildren; his sisters Magdelana (Mike) Hofer of Spring Water Colony, and Sara (David) Waldner and Susie (David) Kleinser, all of East End Colony; his brothers Joseph (Mary) Waldner of Hilldale Colony, Elias (Rebecca) Waldner of Camrose Colony, and Peter (Sarah) Waldner of East End Colony; and numerous nieces and nephews.
