Obituary

John Calvin Head, age 68, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Havre on January 8, 2026.

He was born in Havre, Montana, on January 29, 1957, and attended Havre High School where he enjoyed being a member of the wrestling team.  Following his high school years, John attended job corps in Anaconda where he gained the invaluable carpentry skills that would carry him throughout his adult life until he was severely injured on the job.

John was married twice in his life.  Both marriages were short-lived, but he remained close friends with his first wife, Sheila Walker.

John will mostly be remembered for his love of his pets.  He rescued his eight cats and two large canines, Duke and Molly.  John loved them all dearly and considered them his babies.  His neighbors called him "The Catman", as he would take the dogs for a walk and have eight cats following him and his precious Duke and Molly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Garfield Head and Juanita Sue Lyman, as well as a sister, Katherine LaVonne Park.

John is survived by his siblings, Pansy S. Vylasek, Edna F. Duff, Linda K. Winchell, and James D. Head, as well as many nieces and nephews.

At this time no services are planned. John's family has suggested memorial donations be made to an animal shelter of the donor's choice.  Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
