John Paul Braaten died peacefully in his home the morning of June 28, 2024, in Havre, MT, succumbing to colon cancer at the age of 42.

John is survived by his father, Steven Anfin Braaten of Havre, MT; his children, Katelynn, Carson, John Jr., and Ashlynn; his siblings, Halley Braaten and Joseph Braaten; and the mother of his children, Kasondra Lester.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Tamara Kae Johnstone, and his grandparents, Jens Braaten, Agnes Braaten, Arthur Johnstone and Thelma Johnstone.

John was born on March 21, 1982, in Havre, Mt, to Steven and Tamara Braaten.  He earned his GED and became a talented chef.  John enjoyed gaming and spending time with his family.  He met Kasondra Lester and the couple welcomed four children into their lives.

John was so very proud of his children and spoke of them often in the final days. He left this earth hoping that they will live a great life full of happiness.  While our hearts mourn the loss, we take comfort in knowing he is no longer suffering.

A celebration of life is scheduled for Tuesday July 9, 2024, at 5:30 pm in the conference room at Best Western Havre Inn & Suites 1425 Highway 2 NW. All are welcome to attend and celebrate John's life. If you wish to send flowers, please send them to 1005 7 St on the 9th, so we can decorate the conference room with them.  All financial donations will go towards the cost of the funeral.  Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
