Joanne L. Schnittgen, 89, passed away due to natural causes at The Lodge in Great Falls on Tuesday, January 14, 2025. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 4, 2025, in Highland Cemetery.  Joanne's family has suggested memorial donations be made in her memory to Van Orsdel United Methodist Church or the charity of the donor's choice.  Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with services and arrangements.

Joanne was born July 2, 1935, in Great Falls to Edward and Helen (Oakland) Bailey.  After her mother's death in 1946, she was adopted by her grandparents, Thomas and Rebecca (Hockenberry) Oakland.  Joanne graduated from Great Falls High School in 1953 and NMC in 1955.  She married Duane Schnittgen June 3, 1954, in Plentywood, Montana.  She worked in Havre as a legal secretary.

Joanne is survived by her four sons, Douglas (Cindy) of Oklee, MN, Dennis of Great Falls, Donald (Sue) of Whitehall, and David of Helena; 9 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; 1 step-granddaughter; and 4 step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Duane, and granddaughter, Hailey, in 2008.
