Janna Lea (Russette) Chavez passed away at her residence in Havre, MT on April 08, 2022. Her wake will start on Saturday, April 9, 2022, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Rocky Boy, MT, with her funeral at 10AM on Monday, April 11, 2022, in Rocky Boy, MT. Burial will follow in the Russette Family Cemetery. Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
Janna was a free spirit who enjoyed life and lived it on her own terms. She was a kind and loving soul. In her younger days, she loved beautifying herself with her favorite makeup and hairstyles. She attended school in Rocky Boy, but later attained her General Education Degree, worked various jobs in Rocky Boy, and attended Stone Child College. Janna truly was a "Duck Creek girl" at heart, whose back yard was Sandy Creek and Centennial Mountain where she enjoyed many evenings and drives. She had lived in Thoreau, New Mexico and on the Wind River Indian Reservation in WY for a time.
Janna later successfully battled and beat cancer and moved to Havre, MT, where she made her home and created numerous friendships and enjoyed the many casinos.
Janna was the youngest (baby) of her 9 nine siblings, born to the late James and Bernice Russette. She had one son, James "Smitty" Gibson of Great Falls, MT; grandchildren, James Jr., Sean, Adrian, and Lane; and her daughter, Kristy Lynn (Darin Watt); and grandchildren, Aries, Darin, Alberto, and Abel.
She is survived by her sisters, Ruth (Lyman) WolfChief, Deanna (Udall) Gibson, Dale Russette, Leana Gopher; brothers Dean Russette and Wesley (Renessa) Russette; her friend and partner Roscoe Stanley; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Arlynn Marie; parents, James and Bernice; grandparents, Mike Russette and Helen (Champagne) Russette, Elizabeth and John Goodrunning, and Gilbert and Sis Meyers; brother, James Russette, Jr.; two sisters; her grandchildren, Kyla and Antonio; and several aunts and uncles.
