Jackie Dean
"Jack" Stallcup
November 23, 1935 – July 27, 2025
Jackie D. "Jack" Stallcup, 89, passed away due to natural causes at the Northern Montana Care Center on Sunday, July 27, 2025. Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of Jack's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, in the Holland & Bonine Funeral Chapel, with Ken Overcast officiating. Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with services and arrangements.
Jack was born on November 23, 1935, in Fort Benton to Elwyen "Short" and Daisy "Helen" (Harris) Stallcup. He was raised in Loma, attending school in Fort Benton. After 8th grade, Jack began working as a farm and ranch hand for others. In 1955, he married Glenda Hartman, and the couple had two daughters, Jackie and April. They leased the Hartman farm for nearly 30 years before it sold, and the couple purchased their own land. In the mid-80s, the couple divorced, and Jack continued farming and ranching until he entered the Northern Montana Care Center in 2018.
Jack was a self-made and self-educated man who always said, "If you're going to do a job, do it right or don't do it at all". He was incredibly hard-working, and a friend said, "Jack got more done in the morning than most people get done all day." He enjoyed singing and playing the guitar and pinochle. Passing on his knowledge of agriculture to his girls was his greatest joy. Jack was a faithful member of Fifth Avenue Christian Church until he entered the Care Center, but he continued to attend services at Grace Chapel while there. He possessed a great deal of faith, which is what got him through these past seven years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Short and Helen Stallcup; siblings, Mick Stallcup and Edith Hardy; and his brother-uncle, Bob Stallcup.
Jack is survived by his daughters, April Heilman of Glendive and Jackie Stallcup of Havre; grandchildren, Jennifer and Tyrel Heilman; and great-grandchildren, April, Colter, Declin, Zeva, and Orin.
