Gloria Jean Chiefstick, (Mahskwa Kahwitahpmaht, "Sits with the Bear"), 73, passed away due to natural causes on Friday, September 30, 2022, at Benefis Healthcare in Great Falls.  Wake services will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 2, 2022, and will continue until her funeral service, which will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 3, 2022, all at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church with Earl "Archie" Arkinson officiating.  Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.

Gloria was born on April 14, 1949, in Fort Belknap to Patrick and Amy (Chief Goes Out) Chiefstick, Sr.  She was raised in Great Falls and Rocky Boy, attending school there.  After high school, she attended Job Corps in Des Moines, IA, and then returned to Rocky Boy where she had her children.  She spent many years raising her children and caring for her nieces and nephews as though they were her own.  After her youngest child finished high school, Gloria attended Stone Child College, where she obtained her Associates Degree in liberal arts and in Native American studies.  For many years, Gloria worked as the librarian at Stone Child College until her retirement.

Gloria was a loving woman who enjoyed visiting with family and friends, time in the casino, cooking, and working crossword puzzles.  She was an avid reader and a shop-a-holic, finding clothes and shoes she absolutely had to have.  Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Patrick and Amy Chiefstick, Sr.; sisters, Ambrosia "Amby" and Verlas "Minnie" Chiefstick; brothers, Harvey, Virgil, Clement Sr., and Calvin Chiefstick; grandchild, Shia Valencia; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins, including her nephews, Clement "Blue" Chiefstick, Stonechild "Stoney" Chiefstick, and Joseph Chiefstick, and her niece, Jacinta Chiefstick.

Gloria is survived by her children, Virgil Chiefstick, Shana Chiefstick, and Ashley Young, and she also raised her nieces and nephews, Robert Chiefstick, Misty Chiefstick, Cory Taylor, Ryan Young, and Vernon Young; eleven grandchildren, Airian (Austin), Juanita (Richard), Sara (Terry), Kaycee (Issac Sr.), Krista (Tawnya), Rhys, Raefe, Aubreionna, Michael, Micalei, and Xavier; eleven great-grandchildren, Rayden, Maksyn, Aunoni, Ashton, Angelo, Tayvin, Sariah, Mateo, Issac Jr., Israel, and Immanuel; brother, Patrick Chiefstick, Jr.; several aunts and uncles in Pryor, MT; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family and friends.
