After numerous years working with his dad at Brandon's Floor Covering, he began working for the Havre Fire Department in 1979. He was a firefighter/EMT and dispatcher for the police department. From there, he transferred to Shelby, Montana where he and Kathy enjoyed raising their family. After 9 years in Shelby, he transferred to Brunswick, Georgia where he taught Immigration Law at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center. After 2 years of teaching and being ready to come back to Montana, he transferred to Plentywood as the Patrol Agent in Charge. In 2006, he chose a temporary transfer to Artesia, New Mexico to teach Immigration Law again at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center. During his time teaching, he was able to watch his son, Eric, and his future son-in-law, Clancy, graduate from the academy as Border Patrol Agents. He retired in October of 2008 from the U.S. Border Patrol after 20 years of dedicated service.
During all of these years, he was an incredible family man who loved life and the many 'Carlson Family Adventures'. He was involved with every aspect of his children's lives, rarely missing out on anything. He was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting and fishing, with fishing being his absolute favorite.
During his retirement, he began exploring woodworking which became one of his many hobbies. He also built custom fishing rods for each of his grandkids. One of his main passions in life was photography. His photography talents not only included wildlife, but capturing all of the important moments in his family's life. He passed his lifelong love of photography on to both his son and daughter. Glenn and Kathy moved to Great Falls, Montana in 2009 where they lived a beautiful life and enjoyed spoiling their grandkids.
