Glenda Ann
Lowe
June 4, 1949 – May 2, 2023
Glenda Ann (Embrey) Lowe, 73, died peacefully with family by her side on May 2, 2023, in Great Falls.
A wife, mother, grandmother, "gaga" and "grammy," Glenda valued family above all else and leaves that legacy in those she influenced throughout her life.
She was born on June 4, 1949, to JB and Helen Marie (Billions) Embrey in Huntsville, Alabama, where her family ran a grocery store.
While attending Robert E. Lee High School in 1964, she introduced herself to the new guy by offering him a stick of gum. Little did she know that young man, James Thomas Lowe, Jr., would later become her husband.
They married on October 26, 1968, beginning their 54-year journey together in Huntsville. The couple had two sons, Shawn and Brian, before moving to Havre, Montana, where they raised their family.
After both boys graduated from Havre High School, the couple started traveling for Tom's work with BNSF Railway. They spent the next 18 years taking in new cities and adventures before returning to Havre to retire. Although Glenda spent much of her life in Montana, she never lost touch with her southern roots. She would make her mother's biscuits, cornbread, and fried zucchini for her family, even though she didn't care for cooking herself. That didn't stop her from baking chocolate chip cookies anytime her grandson, Tanner, stopped by. Although she'd deny it, she made a mean strawberry rhubarb pie, a favorite of her granddaughter, Maddie.
She gave selflessly to those she loved, never hesitating to put family first. Maybe it was a mother's intuition, or perhaps she was preparing for the apocalypse, but no matter where Glenda was going, she was ready for anything that might happen along the way.
Aside from family and traveling, Glenda enjoyed sewing, quilting and crocheting. She embroidered birthday shirts every year for her twin grandsons, Evann and Jaxson, and made sure each member of the family had a quilted stocking with their name on it at Christmas.
Glenda was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Tom; sister, Deb (Roger) Little; brother, Joe (Wendy) Embrey; sons, Shawn (Lisa) and Brian (Arica) Lowe; eight grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.
Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of life is scheduled for 4:00 P.M. on Friday, May 12 at St. Jude Parish Center, 440 7 th Ave, Havre, MT. Glenda's family has suggested memorial donations be made in her memory to St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, St. Jude Children's Hospital, or Peace Hospice of Great Falls. Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
