Geraldine (Gerry) Unterseher of Havre, formerly of Chester and Fort Benton, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 17, 2016 in the company of her daughters.

Born on February 5, 1931 in Dickinson, North Dakota, Gerry was the third and youngest child of Anna and Leroy David. She was raised and educated in Dickinson. While earning a teaching degree she met Arnold (Spike) Unterseher. They were married on June 9, 1951.

Gerry taught for several years before stepping away from her career to raise her four children. After an absence of 23 years, she returned to teaching in Chester, Montana in 1976, eventually retiring in 1991.

Gerry was an avid reader, enjoyed solving crossword puzzles & was an excellent seamstress. She will always be remembered for being a great cook. Every meal made from scratch, homemade bread, and Sunday fried chicken dinner with pie for dessert.

Gerry is survived by her daughters, Cindy Lamb of Havre, and Peggy Unterseher of Roundup. She is also survived by her son David (Joyce) Unterseher of Butte and six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Her brother Wayne David of Washington state also survives her.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband Spike, daughter Debra VanHemelryck, sister Bernice, and beloved son-in-law Bruce Lamb.

Graveside services will take place Friday June 24 at 1:00 pm,at the Montana State Veterans Cemetery, Fort Harrison, Helena, Montana. The family requests that memorials in Gerry's honor be directed to the American Cancer Society.
