Standfill
June 7, 1942 – March 29, 2019
Gerald Benny Standfill, 76, passed away due to natural causes at his Shoreline, WA, residence on Friday, March 29, 2019. Gerald's graveside service will be on Saturday, April 6, 2019 in the Bear-Matte Family Cemetery. Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. Gerald was born on June 7, 1942, in Firebaugh, CA, to Eugene and Rosa (Walton) Bean. His parents later divorced, and when his mom married Marvin Standfill, Marvin adopted Gerald and his siblings. He met Sara Elkins in May of 1962, and the couple married on May 12, 1962. They had five children, and settled in Seattle, Washington, where Gerald worked as a machinist and a roofer.
The Seattle Mariners were Gerald's baseball team, and he loved to watch them play and check the scores. He also liked the Denver Broncos, playing poker, shooting pool, and spending time with his grandchildren. He loved his Plain M & M's, and had to have them all the time. Gerald was an avid coin collector. He collected all kinds of coins and currency which he cherished. You would always find him checking for star notes on the currency or checking his coins for dates.
He was preceded in death by his parents Marvin and Rosa Standfill; children Sara Deane and Joseph Standfill; grandson Anthony; great-granddaughter Riley; and siblings Darlene and Larry.
Gerald is survived by his wife Sara Jean Standfill, of Seattle; three children, Cathy (Robert) Bear of Harlem, MT, Tammy Standfill of Savannah, GA, and David Standfill of GA; eight grandchildren, Bobbie Jean, Robert, Raven, and Nicholas of MT, and Carmen, Sean, Thomas and Seannah of GA; six great-grandchildren, AJ and Darius of GA, and Exavier, Isaac, Mazie, and Madalie of MT; adoptive daughter Bessy of WA; adoptive grandchildren Stephanie, Rachel, Keilani, Gabriel, and Noah of WA; brother Bill (Jane) Standfill) of WA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
