Garth
Volbright
October 29, 1947 – June 22, 2025
Garth Rodger Volbright, 77, passed away due to natural causes at the Northern Montana Care Center in Havre, Montana, on Sunday, June 22, 2025. Garth was born October 29, 1947, in Havre to Vernon ("Vern") and Helen Volbright.
He was raised in Havre, and captained the Blue Ponies football team at Havre High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the Vietnam War, where he was in the Long Range Reconnaissance Patrols. He was awarded both the Bronze and Silver Stars. Artistic creation was Garth's lifelong passion. He worked prolifically in a variety of media, from drawing and painting to sculpture in wood and clay. He also played and recorded music of his own composition, ranging from acoustic and electric guitar to purely digital creations. His art in all forms was usually abstract and intriguing, inviting contemplation. Garth spent most of his adult life in Missoula. When his stepmother June fell ill, he returned to Havre to help his father Vern care for her. Later, Garth provided the same care to Vern himself.
He was preceded in death by his father Vern, mother Helen, stepmother June, and sister Sharon.
Garth is survived by his son Brandon and Brandon's wife Kathryn; his daughter Tegan and her husband Nathan; and his grandsons Calder and Stellan.
Cremation took place under the direction of Holland & Bonine Funeral Home of Havre, and burial with military honors will take place at Highland Cemetery at 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 30, 2025.
