Obituary

Freda Louis, 82, passed away at Northern Montana Care Center on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 due to natural causes. Cremation has taken place and services will be held at a later date. Freda was born on December 3, 1930 to Joe and Esther (Nomee) Turner. She was raised in Rocky Boy. She attended Haskell Indian School in OK. Following school, she moved to Billings, MT where she met Clovis LeCompte. They were married in 1957. Clovis was deployed for the US Navy during the Korean War. While he was away, Freda worked as a secretary. A daughter was born. Clovis returned from the War and the couple remained living in Billings until their divorce in 1961. Freda worked all over the western one-half of the United States until her return to Rocky Boy in 1975. She entered Northern Montana Care Center in 1987. Freda was a quiet, reserved woman with a great sense of humor. She was very protective of her family. She enjoyed sewing, making star quilts and baking. She was a great cook. Freda was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Esther Turner; and her brothers Lawrence and Richard Turner. She is survived by her daughter Denise Windy Boy of Havre; her four grandchildren, Tanna, Jaime, Anthony and Mose Windy Boy of Havre; her 9 great-grandchildren; and numerous beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.
