Frosty was born on June 24, 1952, in Fort Belknap, MT, to Harold "Bazoo" and Theresa "Nucky" (Cuts The Rope) Werk. He was raised in Hays, attending school at St. Paul Mission until he transferred to Flandreau Indian School. After college, Frosty worked as the manager of the Bookstore for Salish Kootenai College in Pablo, MT, where he remained until retirement. He returned to Hays in 2012.
Frosty enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, and gambling. He was a true artist with his leather working, and he loved to sing traditional hand drum and round dance songs to his grandbabies. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bazoo and Nucky Werk; and his paternal and maternal grandparents.
Frosty is survived by his daughters Katrese (Tim) Hammond of Fort Belknap, and Sirraya (Dakota) Swank of Pablo, MT; his sons, Gilbert (Shayna Bacon) Werk of Leggins Flat, LodgePole, Sundance Hernandez of St. Ignatius, Steven Hernandez of Bozeman, and Eli Dubois of Billings; his 13 grandchildren; his 4 great-grandchildren; his sisters, Joan (Don) Racine of Timber Ridge, Evelyn Werk of Hays, Lorene "Tammy" Werk of Timber Ridge, Carol "Riggy" (Clifford) Doney of Hays, Anne "Butch" Racine of Browning, Margaret "Maggie" Werk of Star Hill, and Vivian (Paul) Webb of Hays; his brothers Harold "Bud" (Shelly) Werk, Jr. of Malta, James "Jim" (Kim) Werk of Las Vegas, NV, and Toby (Liz) Werk of Blue Heaven Family Ranch, Hays; his adopted brother and sister Robert "Coop" Cooper and Mary Rose Bacon; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family and friends.
