Francis "Frank"
Leon First Raised
December 8, 1958 – January 11, 2022
FRANCIS LEON "FRANK" FIRST RAISED peacefully entered into the arms of our Creator on January 11, 2022 in Great Falls, MT. A family wake will be held on Friday, January 14, 2022 with funeral services being held on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at 11am at the Agency Community Center in Fort Belknap, MT. Burial will follow at the Horn Family Cemetery east of the Fort Belknap Agency. Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. Frank "Tiny Man" was born to Amos (Sr.) and Melvina (Horn) First Raised on December 8, 1958. He grew up and was educated both in Fort Belknap and Rudyard, MT and received his final academics from Kicking Horse Job Corps in Ronan, MT.
Thirty-six plus (36+) years were committed to the love of his life, Mary G. Adams. During this union they were blessed with their three boys John and twins Travis and Taylor who joined their older sisters Kathleen and Dianna.
Throughout Frank's years of employment, he had the opportunity to be a Traffic Control Supervisor Trainee with Poteet Construction from Missoula, MT; a laborer with the Fort Belknap Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) Roads Department and as a driver/food handler with the Fort Belknap Commodity Program under the "strict supervision" of our dear Aunt Annie Helgeson. His latest and most enjoyable employment was as a truck driver/laborer with Bishop Excavating of Malta to which he was described by Shayne Bishop as "his favorite - the only one he was able to hire and fire 10 times in one day!"
Frank adored his large families and many friends to which he was given many nicknames but was better known as "Fence Post". He was further known for his passion of motorcycles, Ford Rangers, gambling, fishing, hunting, dancing, socializing and going for a cruise - especially to the Valley. To the family, he was known as their personal "Nakoda language speaker" – a trait he carried proudly as he held his Nakoda heritage to the utmost! He loved to share and tell stories as every encounter with Frank was adorned with one – whether of his "Rudyard days", his humorous experiences or recent "community news".
Welcoming him on the other side with open arms are his son Travis Leon and baby; his parents Amos & Melvina; siblings Marlene, Bryan, Belva, Loretta and Jesse; his adoptive family, Norris & Opal Harrison and brother Robert.
Keeping him in memory are his wife Mary; daughters Kathleen Adams, Dianna (Tony) Blue-Gamble and Jennifer Lee; sons John and Taylor First Raised; grandchildren Jaylynne (Chance), T'Jay (Brooke) and Lane Allen, McKennen Montes, Drayton Woodard, Brauc, Brooke, Ali and Tayana First Raised, Alesha, Alexis and Leo Manriquez, Skyler Lee and Jaxen Shankland, and Piercyn First Raised; great-grandchildren Colton and Aaliyah Roberts, Tandyn and Breslyn Allen; siblings Amos First Raised, Jr., Arleda Hopkins and Julia (Ed) Doney; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended relatives and friends.
