Fern Brockie, 65, of Hays Montana began her journey to be with God and loved ones on September 15th, 2026 at Northern Montana Hospital in Havre, MT.
Fern was born in Fort Belknap on May 18th, 1961. Her mother is Margaret June Bell Martin and her father is the late Harold James Martin Sr. Fern attended school in Hays Montana. Fern was a proud mother of 5 children. She was a woman of great faith and put family first. Her hobbies included crocheting, puzzles, gardening, dancing up a storm, working, sewing, visiting family and friends. Helping wherever and whenever she could gave her so much fulfilment. She was a great caregiver and homemaker which included being a nanny to many children. Her cooking specialty was zucchini bread and pickled beets made with love every time. Fern was very resourceful and could make a delicious meal out of anything!
She loved her life partner James Scott Taylor, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, mother, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins, and her baby Feisty so much. A quote cited directly from Fern’s notes “Life is good & great!!! (Love you all!) Another quote from Fern “A person who cannot forgive has forgotten how much God has forgiven them so you owe your entire life to God, Thank him with a grateful Amen.”
Fern’s beautiful bright light that shined even on the darkest of days will be dearly missed by her family and community. Fern had a wild sense of humor and could make friends with anyone as she had a kind and caring heart. She had a very positive perspective on life, she believed in the best in people. Bringing out the best in others by being her true authentic self was something she did effortlessly. She made space for you to be yourself and did so with love in her heart. You were sure to feel her stubbornness and feistiness just as much as you felt her light hearted humor, humbleness, and unwavering love. Her strength, love and wisdom was steady and deep as her roots. Fern had a strong upbringing as a woman of faith and she was sure to instill that belief into the next generation.
Fern is survived by her daughters Tiffany Brockie of Hays, Curry Brockie Small (Monty) of Havre, Anny Shields of Hays; sons Logan Brockie of Hays, Adam Doney of Hays; and all of her adopted children.
