Obituary

Ethan Don Broncho "kihew awahsis", 60, passed away on May 26, 2026, of natural causes. A wake will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at 3pm at Chippewa Cree Help Lodge. A funeral will be held on Friday, May 29, 2026, at 10am at Chippewa Cree Help Lodge. Burial will follow at Rocky Boy Cemetery. Journey feast will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at 10am at Chippewa Cree Help Lodge.

Ethan was born on May 20, 1966, in Blackfoot, Idaho to Carlino Broncho Sr. and Frances Top Sky. He attended Rocky Boy Elementary School and graduated 8th grade from Rocky Boy Jr. High, he returned to Blackfoot, ID and attended Blackfoot Highschool where he graduated. After, graduation he attended Intermountain Indian School in Bringham City Utah. He graduated from Idaho State University in 1982 with an associate's degree and continued his education at Idaho State University Technical College receiving another associate's degree in mechanics. He also attended Stone Child College and MSU-Northern majoring in Human Services. He was employed at Northern Winz Casino from 2007 until being elected to the Chippewa Cree Business Committee in 2022.

He loved golf, taking part in physical fitness activities, coaching youth, and encouraging others to take care of their well-being. He was an artist at heart; he often helped his late uncle Lloyd Top Sky with various projects along with learning traditional aspects of the Chippewa Cree people, a strong believer of our Chippewa Cree tradition and culture. He was a Pipe Carrier for our Grass Dance Society, following the ways of the Sundance, Giveaway Dance and painted Tee-Pee ceremonies. Ethan respected our elders, youth, and our Rocky Boy community. He held the pipe and sweetgrass in highest regards. One of his many goals he had was to continue to help the Rocky Boy reservation thriving and flourishing for this generation and future generations to come.

In his younger years he could be found riding horses with his cousins down bottoms or riding bikes around Fort Hall. Ethan loved old classic cars with the Impala being his favorite model often attending car shows when his time permitted. His biggest joy was his children and grandchildren; they all meant the world to him.

Ethan is survived by his three daughters Erin (Lorin), Star (Shane), and Talise; son Eric Schildt grandchildren Ryder, Keira, Baltimore, Willie, twins Layla and Lauren, Cooper and Rachelle; mother Frances Top Sky; brothers Carlino Broncho Jr., Nolan Wise, Carlos Broncho; sisters Tracy Broncho and Tamera (Bernard) Broncho; nieces Tonia Broncho, Az'aliegha Su'a, Ae'Zya Su'a; nephews Kleve, Jade, Jeremy, Jordan, Forest Broncho, Ezekiel Su'a; aunt Elaine Top Sky; uncle Leland Top Sky; cousins Elizabeth, Rachel, Whitney, Trey, Anika, Samatt "Rooster", Angel, Donny, Lacey, Leloni, Randall, Theron, Jayde, Sonny, Dee, Binky, Bitty; and all his extended, Slimjohn Family, Billy Family, Denny Family, Weaselboy Family, Parker Family, Chief goes out Family of Rocky Boy. The Iron Maker Family of Fort Belknap, Plainfeather, Plainbull and Smart Enemy Families of Pryor, Three Irons, House (fog in the morning) of Crow, Dennehy (Smallboy) Family, Curry Family.

He is preceded in death by his father Carlino Broncho Sr., grandparents Salmon and Marie Martin Broncho and Charles and Eliza Samatt Top Sky, aunts Shirley Top Sky Dixie, Brenda Top Sky Gardipee, Geneva Top Sky, uncles Lloyd Top Sky, Willis Top Sky.
