October 6, 1961 – June 15, 2020
Erwin Little Sun journeyed home peacefully at Benefis hospital in Great Falls, Montana, on Monday, June 15, 2020. Wake services will be on Wednesday, and funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., all at Parker School Little Sun's field. Burial will follow in the Parker Canyon Cemetery. Erwin was born to Peggy Ball and Gilbert Cliff of Fort Belknap. He was adopted as a small child by Paul and Tiny (Peltier) Little Sun of Rocky Boy, and was raised in Rocky Boy. Emory Champagne of Havre took him as a son.
Erwin enjoyed working as a maintenance manager and floor worker for the Northern Winz Casino. He was also a firefighter, crew boss, and tree feller, and a literacy tutor through Vista at Stone Child College. Erwin was a carver, carving cribbage boards out of deer hors. He was also a master at peyote stitch, always using cut beads in his peyote stitching. During the time he lived in Seattle, he graduated from Pima Medical Institute with a certificate as a veterinary technician. He then worked as a Vet Tech in Seattle, and later worked in downtown Seattle in maintenance. After that, he worked for Cree-ations, a private consulting firm.
Erwin loved his family, working hard, his television shows and movies, and being outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and had the honor to kill two buffalo with his grandson Dezmond Hare and deceased best friend Robert "Robby" Geboe III. He also enjoyed traveling, having visited all over the US, Alaska, Canada, and Mexico.
Erwin is survived by his wife of 39 years, Luanne Belcourt; daughters, Sable Rose Little Sun, Florence Hare, Dawn Houle, and Stacey Limberhand; grandsons, Dezmond Hare Big Bow and Colton Small; sister, Judy Has Eagle; brothers, Henry Daychild, Lincoln Begay, Craig Cliff, Neil "Willy" Has Eagle; nephews, Nate and Paul Estell; nieces, Tiffany, Nicole, Rose, and Tara Estell; and many numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and family from Fort Belknap and Rocky Boy who were very dear to his heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Georgeline "Tiny" Little Sun; birth parents, Margaret "Peggy" Ball and Clifford "Machine" Cliff; brother, Kim "Moke" Cliff; and son, Robert Hines Stump.
