Obituary

Elvira Naomi "Babygirl" Alexander Day Child, Sweetgrass Lodge Woman, passed away due to natural causes at Northern Montana Hospital on October 15, 2021.  Wake services will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 16, 2021, and will continue until her funeral service, which will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 18, 2021, all at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church.  Burial will follow in the Rocky Boy Cemetery.  Holland and Bonnie Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.

Babygirl was born to Fred Windy Boy Alexander and Mary Small on May 18, 1948. In 1964, she met the love of her life, Henry James Day Child (Little Sun). Together they had 12 children. She loved all her children and grandchildren.  Her heart overflowed with love and called many her own children.  She also enjoyed beadwork, playing bingo/slots, picking sage and berries, family gathering, being at Sundances and pow-wows, cooking, and traveling. One of her favorite pastimes was having tallboy of bud light and playing machines.

Babygirl loved babies.  She worked at the daycare for a number of years and helped many families with their babies. If there was one thing to remember about her was that she always had a baby in her arms.

She was preceded by her parents, Fred and Mary Alexander Windy Boy; her siblings, Kenneth Alexander, Mary Rose Denny, Ila Denny, Orin, Alan, Milton, Curtis, Karen and Barbara Ann Alexander; twin  grandsons, Isaiah and Zachary Jaramillo; nephews, Alton Boyd Alexander and Tyson Denny; nieces, Coretta Denny and Wyoma Denny; and sons-in-law, Lance Parker and Corey Blackwolf.

Babygirl is survived by her husband of 57 years, Henry Day Child (Little Sun), her twelve children, Nelson Day Child,  Noreen Day Child (Martin Weaselboy), Christine Parker, Colin Day Child (Ashley Parker), Henrietta Day Child,  Vera Jaramillo (Gonzalo Jaramillo), Crystal Day Child (Clinton Lamere), Henry James Day Child (Katrina Crittenden), Justin Day Child (Shaleen Parisian), Monica Day Child (Jessie Kent), Cherish Day Child (Adrian Jaramillo), and Trisha Day Child (Thomas Belt); 49 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; adopted sons, Waylon Daychild, Sr. and Steven Dubois; adopted daughters, Krystal Hawk, Trudi Bacon, Serena Brady, and Loranda Lafromboise; one brother, Sherman Alexander; and extended families from the WindyBoys, Smalls, Alexanders, Favels, Gardipees, and Johnsons.
