Elizabeth Ann
Yellowtail
January 19, 1953 – March 12, 2022
Elizabeth Ann Yellowtail, (Wah-Sah-Kahm Ki-si-ko Is-kwew) All Over the Sky Woman, 69, passed away due to natural causes at the Advanced Care Hospital in Billings on Saturday, March 12, 2022. Her wake will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 15, 2022, and will continue until her funeral service, which will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, all at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in the Rocky Boy Cemetery. Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
Elizabeth was born on January 19, 1953, in Ft. Qu'Appelle, Saskatchewan, to Frank and Florence (Cappo) Yellowtail. Elizabeth was raised by her maternal grandparents until the age of 16, when she met Dale Chief Sky, and the couple moved to Rocky Boy. They married in 1971 and raised 6 children together. Elizabeth and Dale divorced in 1997, but remained friends. She had a passion for children, and dedicated herself to them in her career, working as a teaching assistant at Rocky Boy Elementary School, and working as a daycare provider at Rocky Boy Headstart and Stone Child College.
In her spare time, Elizabeth enjoyed going to the casino, playing Bingo, telling stories, spending time barbequing in the mountains, and finding rummage sales with the express purpose of finding mini tea party sets. She absolutely adored being a grandma and great-grandma. Each of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were very special to Elizabeth, and watching them grow and mature was her favorite pastime.
She was preceded in death by her son, Jon Johnson; parents, Frank Yellowtail and Florence Cappo; brother, Aaron Yellowtail; grandsons, Cody Four Colors, Kyle Standing Rock, and Darrin Johnson; sisters, Sharon Campbell, and Beatrice, Anita, and Loretta Jean Cappo; grandparents, Alfred and Philomaine Cappo; and nephew, John Winter Hawk Sinclair.
Elizabeth is survived by her children, Lonna (Jason), Colbert, Dale Jr., Kristi, and Joseph (Kayla) Johnson; grandchildren, Lance, Cauy, Persja, Darren, Chase, Wyatt, Zaylee, Tayler, Flo, Cristina, Neavah, Nasia, Kyle, Isaiah, Emrie Ann "Fiona Rose", and Darrell Fiddler; and great-grandchildren, Ashton, Savion, Brooklyn, Kordell, Metava, and Kenzly.
