Edwina Marie Whitford, "Ka Ki Kwa-nah Pi-yi-iskwew" (Residing Tornado Sitting Woman), 49, passed away due to natural causes at her residence on Wednesday, May 22, 2024. Wake services will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 23, 2024, and will continue until her funeral service, which will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 24, 2024, all at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in the Rocky Boy Cemetery. Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
Edwina was born on October 3, 1974, in Havre to Eddie Whitford and Pearl Idal Raining Bird. She resided on the Rocky Boy reservation, attending grades K-12 and also graduating from Rocky Boy Schools. In her high school years, Edwina ruled the court as a point guard for the Rocky Boy Morning Stars. Basketball was her favorite sport. Both playing and watching a game was a favorite pastime of hers. After high school, she attended Stone Child College, aiming towards becoming a Physical Education teacher. She also worked for the Chippewa Cree Health Board with the HIV and tobacco prevention programs, and for the Northern Winz Casino where she held a number of positions, including maintenance and floor attendant. After being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2016, she decided to spend her days at home having good times and making great memories.
Edwina was very crafty. She had a creative mind and a knack for in-home decorating. She enjoyed beading, coloring, cooking, and collecting miniatures. She was a fun-spirited woman, always filling a room with happiness and her contagious laugh. She was always willing to help others whenever it was possible. Edwina loved children and took pride in the upbringing of her own and also her nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.
She leaves behind her two children, daughter, Skylah Morsette, and son, Clayton Morsette, Jr., aka Little Man; mother, Pearl Whitford of Rocky Boy; sisters, Carrie Whitford-Baker, Faye Whitford, and Melissa Whitford, all of Rocky Boy; brothers, Gordon (Lisa) Whitford, Ted (Jewel) Whitford, Mervin (Renita) Whitford, Art Whitford, and Harry Whitford, all of Rocky Boy, and Upton Whitford of Wausau, Wisconsin; and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and her closest friends whom she called family.
Edwina was preceded in death by her father, Eddie Whitford; and grandparents, James and Mamie Whitford and Art and Mabel Raining Bird.
