Ed was born on June 23, 1936, in Radium, Minnesota, to Steve and Natalia (Meger) Otto. He was raised in Minnesota, relocating to Montana in the mid 1950's for work. In 1959, he entered the US Army, and served his country in Germany until his discharge in 1964. He married Annie Kriessel in Germany in July 1963, and once the couple returned to the States, they made their home in Montana, settling in Havre to raise their six children. Ed worked as a mechanic at Nordling and Tweeten and MidTown Conoco. In 1981, he opened his own shop, Ed's Auto Repair, which he operated with his son Ron until 1995, when Ed retired and Ron relocated to Kalispell. Ed was an outgoing, fun-loving man who enjoyed fishing; playing Keno and cards, especially pinochle and Solitaire; watching his westerns, his favorites starred John Wayne; and listening to classic country music. He was quite the jokester who was known for his fart toys and his candy jar. But most of all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ed was preceded in death by his parents Steve and Natalia Otto; his sister Catherine Chamberlain; and his brother Harold Otto. He is survived by Annie, his loving wife of over 50 years, of Havre; his sons, Mike (Bobbie) Colee of Gibson, LA, Pete (Cheryl Fischer) Otto of Havre, and Ron (Missy) Otto of Kalispell; his daughters Elisabeth (John) Goulet of Havre, Suzie (Steve) Ekness of Wesby, MT, and Diann (Jay Davis) Otto of Kelso, WA; his 9 grandchildren; his 12 great-grandchildren, including one due in November; his brothers August (Ruth) Otto of Lewistown and David (Neisy) Otto of Havre; his sisters Elizabeth (John) Brown of Big Sandy, Bertha Alefteras of Rugby, ND, and Jane (James) Dosch of Binford, ND; and his numerous beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
