Edith Eline Ulven Gerky, age 93, of Havre, MT passed away at Northern Montana Hospital on August 22, 2024, of natural causes. Her funeral will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 26, 2024, at First Lutheran Church with Pastor Megan Hoewisch officiating. Edith was born October 13, 1930, to Martin and Karen (Berg) Ulven of Havre. She attended Spring Coulee Elementary School, Havre High School and Northern Montana College. After graduating college, she worked at the Havre Clinic.
On November 10, 1956, she married George Lewis Gerky of Havre, and they lived on their family farm at Simpson until moving to Havre in 2006. They had four children: Karia, Kory, Kay, and Kurt. Edith was a very loving wife, mom, and Grannie. She loved baking, farm life, and her family. She also loved to paint and craft, especially weaving wheat with Wendy and spent hours playing cards with her sisters.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Mary Meland, Ruth Morse, Karen Hinebauch, and Joyce, who died in infancy; and one grandson, Collan Gerky.
She is survived by her children: Karia Gerky of Havre, Kory (Wendy) Gerky of Havre, Kay (Merlin) Johnson of Chinook and Kurt (Wendy) Gerky of Havre, as well as grandchildren and great grandchildren: Jenny (Jonathan) Follmer, Alanna and Finlay Follmer of Sweden, Shardae (Rial) Hankinson, Lane and Bridger Hankinson of Havre, Katon (Molly) Gerky, Micah, Scarlette, Spencer, and Winona Gerky of Chinook, Dustin (MacKenzie) Gerky of Helena, Adam (Kassie) Johnson, Trey and Olivia of Havre, Abby (Scott) Schmitt, Swayze of Havre, Lindsay (Tyler) Rucinsky, Ahryun, Aryah, Ahloise of Helena.
Memorial donations may be made in Edith's honor to the First Lutheran Church of Havre or to the donor's choice.
The family would like to thank the Fifth-floor nursing staff, Dr. Lien, Dr. Farr, and David from OT for the excellent care mom received while in Northern Montana Hospital.
