Douglas E. Effinger, 67, passed away due to natural causes at Northern Montana Hospital on Friday, November 4, 2022.  A visitation will be held from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 13, 2022, and graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 14, 2022, in the South Gildford Cemetery. Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with services and arrangements.

Douglas was born on June 25, 1955, in Havre to Erwin "Sonny" and Joyce (Cady) Effinger.  He was raised in Hingham, graduating from Hingham High School in 1973.  He attended college, and then returned home to Hingham, where he farmed with his dad until Sonny passed away.  He continued to operate the family farm until his health required him to retire around 2016.

Douglas enjoyed the outdoors, and could be found fishing, hunting, playing horseshoes, and just enjoying the storms that passed through.

He was preceded in death by his father, Erwin "Sonny" Effinger.

Douglas is survived by his son, Joshua Miller of Havre; Joshua's mother, Marcia Miller; mother and stepfather, Joyce (Jim) Sedivy of Chester; sisters, Donna (Kevin) Forkan of Lincoln and Dani Carlson of Swan Lake; brother, Don (Jacqui) Sedivy of Helena; several nieces and nephews; significant other, Debra Sampson of Hingham; and many friends.
