Our Havre's well known Doris M. Morse lived 89 years. She was born on April 15, 1927 in Helena, and raised on the family farm outside Kremlin with her nine siblings. After graduating fromKremlin High Schoolshe worked at the Dutch Shop in Havre, which she talked about until the end of her life on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at the Care and Comfort Home.Funeral service will be at1:00 p.m.onSaturday, July 30, 2016, at First Lutheran Church with Pastor Tanner Howard officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with services and arrangements. In 1946, Daniel Morse swept Doris off her feet and they were married in Havre. The couple purchased a farm north of Havre, where they raised their ten children. Doris supported Dan during his 14 years as country commissioner, attending many events, and helping on the farm while he was working for the people of Hill County. They continued to farmthere until Dan passed away in 1990. In 1996, Doris moved to Havre.
She enjoyed quilting, and loved to knit. She knitted constantly, and was a member of knitting groups.Each Christmas every child and grandchild were recipients of her knitted slippers and washcloths. She was a member of First Lutheran Church and Circle. Shewas a 4-H leader for many years and volunteered at the Feed My Sheep soup kitchen. Doris was a fantastic cook, cooking over 300,200 meals for her family, however she always burned the buns. She loved time with her family, and summer gatherings at the cabin in the Bear Paws was mandatory attendance. She supported her children and grandchildren in their sports and school events, and loved to travel. Recently, she picked up Solitaire and Word Search and it became a constant pastime.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband Daniel Morse in 1990; her grandchildren Clayton Morse and Travis Gomke; her parents John and Amelia Frey; herbrothers Edwin, John (Jack), Ray, and Clarence Frey; and sisters Loretta Clapper and Nora Vosen.
She is survived by her children Judy (Dan) Little of Whitefish, Jerry (Jenny) Morse and Bruce (Laurie) Morse, all of Havre, Bernice (Lynn) Stilger of Libby, Rodney (Janet) Morse of Columbia Falls, Rodger (Margie) Morse of Havre, Melody Morse of Coer de'Alene, ID, Marcia Morse and Lee (Jackee) Morse, all of Havre, and Les (Debbie) Morse of Juneau, AK; her 23 grandchildren; her 32 great-grandchildren; her brothers Floyd and Dennis Freyand sister Delores Tudor; and numerous beloved cousins, nieces, and nephew.
The family requests memorials in the name of the 4-H Chuckwagon, the First Lutheran Church, or to a charity of one's choice.
