Doris E. Hass, 82, of Havre, passed away on Monday, June 18, 2012, at Northern Montana Hospital of natural causes. Doris was the first of seven children born to Oliver and Grace (Marcus) Kephart in Murphy, North Carolina. She attended schools in North Carolina, and met and married the love of her life Dillard Hass when she was 17. The couple moved to Oregon together so Dillard could work at the sawmill. Sometime later, the couple moved to Big Sandy to log for the Cowans. Doris enjoyed cooking, knitting, having her hair and nails done, playing Bingo, dancing, and spending time with her family and her grandchildren. She had many friends. Doris was preceded in death by her husband Dillard in 2008; her parents; her two sons, Rex in 2008 and Tommy in 2012; and three brothers, Bob, Vincent, and Lonnie Kephart. She is survived by her daughter Shirley Martin of Big Sandy, Montana; her son Dale Hass of Eugene, Oregon; her grandchildren, Johnny and Stacey Sandlin and Miranda (Chris) Schwenke, all of Big Sandy, Grant Hass of Cottage Grove, Oregon, and Michelle Hatfield, Michael Hass, and Jesse Hass, all of Creswell, Oregon; her 10 great-grandchildren; and her three sisters, Pauline Beaver of Murphy, North Carolina, Betty Kephart of Coosbay, Oregon, and Ernestine Kephart of Cottage Grove, Oregon. Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at the Big Sandy Fire Hall. Arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.
