Donald Leroy Meiwald, 81, died September 10, 2012 at his home of natural causes. Cremation has taken place and his memorial service will be 10 a.m. Friday, September 28, 2012 at the Rocky Boy Catholic Church with Father Pete Guthneck officiating. Burial will follow at the Rocky Boy Veteran's Cemetery. Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home. Donald was born December 1, 1930 in Havre, Montana to Roy and Marian (Griffin) Meiwald. He grew up in the Missouri River Breaks and raised horses with Steve and Merle Boyce. He married Lucy Meiwald in 1971 in Coeur d'lane, Idaho. Together they made their home in Rocky Boy. The family traveled a lot with Donald's work as a pipefitter. He worked for many companies with his pipefitting skills working on turn arounds. Don worked for seven years in Vietnam for Morse Knudson Construction. That experience had a lifelong effect on Don and Vietnam felt like it was his second home. Donald was a cowboy at heart he loved his animals, horses, dogs and his cows. He always said that he could tell his cows anything and they wouldn't repeat it. He was a member of the pipefitters union and the American Legion and a 40 year member of the Havre Eagles. He was a hard worker but his heart was always at home with his animals. He and Lucy owned the D&L bar for many years and they loved to go out and have a nice dinner together. Donald also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lucy Meiwald and his brother Fred Meiwald and Erm Meiwald. Donald is survived by his son Robert Meiwald of New Town, North Dakota. One brother Frank (Audrey) Meiwald of Kalispell, Montana and one grandson Robert Meiwald Jr and five granddaughters: Jessica, Leslie, Tiffany, Toni and Aubrey.
