Donald A. Engleson, 81, died Wednesday morning August 1, 2012 at his home of natural causes. A private family graveside service was held at the Calvary Cemetery on Friday, August 3, 2012 with Tim Maroney officiating. His burial was concluded with military honors provided by the Veteran Honor Guard of Havre. The Norweigan Flag will be flown at half-staff at his residence unil August 26, 2012. Memorials in Don's honor may be made to the Big Sandy Medical Center or to a memorial of one's choice. Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home. Don was born August 26, 1930 in Glasgow, Montana to Alfred and Mabel (Fincke) Engleson. He attended school through the sixth grade in Glasgow and then moved with his family to Havre. He graduated from Havre High School in 1948. He enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Lewis. After the military he returned to Havre and attended Northern Montana College while working as a laborer at the Great Northern Railroad Car Shop. He married Norma Haaland on July 16, 1950 in Havre at the First Lutheran Church. Together they raised five children. Don continued to work for the railroad as a brakeman and later becoming a conductor. He retired after 44 years with the railroad. Don was a member of the Masonic Lodge, he was a Mason for 58 years a Shriner for 56 and a Jester for 24. He participated in the Shrine Band and they placed #1 for the United States Shrine Band. After retirement Don enjoyed attending many track events as possible. Don and Norma loved to travel they made many trips to Europe, Australia and New Zealand together they had many wonderful once in a lifetime experiences. He also enjoyed fly fishing, walleye fishing with Doc Reese, hunting geese and pheasants, and golfing. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his great grandchildren and teaching them everything he liked to do. He was preceded in death by his parents. Don is survived by his wife Norma Engleson of Havre, his five children, Jerry (Kathy) Engleson of Havre, Mark Engleson of Lewistown; Lynn Engleson of Seattle; Eddy Engleson of Zortman and Kay Engleson of Havre; his 5 grandchildren, Doug, Jamie, Cory, Emily and Paul; his six great-grandchildren that he adored, Jordyn, Alex, Adam, Aden and Isabella, all of Havre, and Miles of San Diego; and his one brother John Engleson of Pocatello, Idaho.
