Dennis was born on January 25, 1961, in Fort Belknap to Hector and Lorraine (Briere) St. Marks. He was raised in Rocky Boy, attending Rocky Boy and Box Elder schools. In 1979, Dennis received his GED, and worked as a roofer for several years. In 1982, he attended Haskell Indian University for a year, and returned home where he met Wanda Deserly. In 1987, the couple married and had one child together, although they raised Travis St. Marks as their own child and fostered several other children over the years. Dennis worked at Stone Child College for nearly 25 years as a custodian before his health issues required him to retire and return to work part-time at Stone Child College.

He was a happy, kind man who enjoyed hunting and fishing, fixing cars, cooking soup, picking berries, playing cards, and anything that involved time with his family. Dennis could always be seen with a smile on his face.

He was preceded in death by his parents Hector and Lorraine St. Marks; and his siblings, Louis Joseph St. Marks, Kenny James St. Marks, Robert Lee St. Marks, Samuel St. Marks, and Nina Louise St. Marks.

Dennis is survived by his wife Wanda (Deserly) St. Marks of Rocky Boy; daughter Shaylee (Isaiah Turn Toes) St. Marks of Rocky Boy; grandchildren, Emma St. Marks, and Levi and Kai'leigh Olson; sisters Patricia St. Marks of Seattle, WA, and Anna St. Marks of Rocky Boy; brothers Billy, Alex, Patrick and Richard St. Marks, all of Rocky Boy; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family and friends.
