Dennis was born December 21, 1937 in Havre, Montana to Lester and Fannie (Freeman) Kenfield. He was raised with his family in Inverness, Montana where his father operated a mercantile grocery store. He attended schools in Inverness graduating from Inverness High School where he was an excellent basketball player. Dennis went on to attend Northern Montana College in Havre. He married Charlotte Zimbelman October 10, 1959 in Havre at the Van Orsdel United Methodist Church. They were the first couple to marry at the new chapel there. The couple made their home in Inverness until they purchased a farm North of Chester in 1962. It was on the farm when they began their family; and were blessed with four sons: Timothy, Bret, Davy, and Kal. The family raised grain, hogs, chickens and cattle. They were involved in the local 4-H club where Dennis and Charlotte served as 4-H leaders. Every year on the Fourth of July the Kenfield family would spend the holiday at Flathead Lake with family. Dennis enjoyed watching his boys play sports, and it didn't matter what sport they were in he was there at every event.
Dennis was a joyful, happy man who loved his family and serving his church. He sat on various church committees. He was an avid Cornett Horn player and also participated in the church choir, played intermural basketball and loved a good game of billiards. One of the most difficult times Dennis had was when he lost his youngest son in 2018.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his youngest son Kal Kenfield, and one brother Kelvin Kenfield.
Dennis is survived by his wife of 61 years Charlotte Kenfield. His three sons: Timothy (Carleen); Bret (Kristin Walters) and Davy Kenfield. His six Grandchildren and their spouses: Daniel (Angie); Shelby (Joshua); Alex (Kyle) Sahnow; Zachary Kenfield; Cameron (Steven) Lively and Jeremy (Donna) Kenfield.
