Obituary

Dennis R. Hinkle, 76, passed away due to natural causes at Northern Montana Care Center on December 17, 2020.  Cremation has taken place, and graveside services will be held at a later date.  Dennis' family has suggested memorial donations be made in his memory to the Alzheimers Foundation-Montana, the Havre American Legion. Dennis was born  on April 25, 1944, in Great Falls, to Warren Lumsden and Lorraine Christianson, the third of ten children, however he was raised by his parents, Robert and Lorraine Hinkle, Robert having adopted him when he was young.  Dennis attended school in Havre and then serviced from 1962 until 1965 in the Navy.  Upon his return, he worked several jobs until 1970, when he began working for the railroad in Havre.  He retired in 1999.  He married Joanie Howieson and the couple later divorced.  In 1973, he married Linda Hyslop.  Altogether, Dennis had seven children.

Dennis was an avid outdoorsman and collector.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and spending time with his friends and family.  He was a member of the Moose Lodge, Eagles Aerie, American Legion, and the NRA.  Dennis was proud to serve on the American Legion Honor Guard, and he was very active with the local Boy Scouts.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Robert and Dennis Hinkle, Jr.; parents, Robert and Lorraine Hinkle; biological father, Warren Lumsden; and siblings, Marcus, William, Raymond, and Barbara.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Linda L. Hinkle; daughters, Marie Perras, Kathy (Harold) Nelson, and Catina (Ron) McLean; sons, Mark (Jody Corner) Hinkle and Willard (Stephanie Mariani) Hinkle; 10 grandchildren, Vincent, Ryan, Hailey, Katie, Victor, Chloe, Russell, Christina, Charlie, and Caileigh; siblings, Warren "Red" (Karen) Lumsden, Robert (Kathleen) Lumsden, Pat (Kenny) Zander, Tom (Edna) Lumsden, and Pete (Carole) Lumsden; in-laws, Linda Hinkle-Heavey, and Will and Lillian Smith; uncles, Merle and James Christianson; and many nieces and nephews.
