Delwayne Lee Denny, 39, passed away from injuries in an accident on November 28, 2021, in Billings, Montana. His wake service will begin at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 1, 2021 with his traditional funeral service at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 2, 2021 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with Russell Standing Rock officiating. His burial will follow at the Rocky Boy Cemetery.
Delwayne was born July 12, 1982, in Havre, Montana, to Thomas McCabe Jr. and Margaret June Denny. He was raised and educated in Rocky Boy. He was raised by Darrell Louis and Irene Makeshine Denny. Delwayne had a love for family and his heritage. He had a great sense of humor; he could perform and impersonate many famous people. He had many nicknames, including Delbows, Delbert, and Dink. His highlight was announcing at the National Indian Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas. He could draw a crowd, entertain them and make them laugh. He was an awesome artist drawing people, landscapes, and animals. He drew pen sketches. He would give them to people as gifts. Many people have videos of him performing at various events in Rocky Boy, Box Elder and Havre areas. He has a huge heart and a large family who loved him. He could make a friend wherever he went; no one was a stranger.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Louie and Angela (Blackbird) Denny; paternal grandparents, Thomas McCabe Sr. and Naomi (Longknife) Abbott; father, Thomas McCabe, Jr.; brothers, Cody Lewis Trottier, Dani Buffalo; Aunt Betty Jo (Denny) SpottedHorse; uncle/ father who raised him, Darrell Louis "Juggie" Denny; and stepfather, Ray Gerig.
Delwayne is survived by his son, Dion Bradley of California; mother, Margaret June (Denny) Gerig of Nisland, SD; auntie/mom, Irene Makeshine Denny; sisters, Christina Lynn Trottier of Washington State, Sarah Michelle Trottier of Billings, MT, Bernie Denny, Rena Denny, and Senica Morsette all of Rocky Boy, and Shalome Denny of Great Falls, MT. Brothers, Thomas McCabe III of Fort Belknap, Harold "Woody" Denny of Rocky Boy, and Virgil "Slim" Buffalo of Rocky Boy; aunts, Iris Buffalo, Ona Mae Denny, and Ann Marie Denny; uncles, Bruce L. ( Wanda) Denny and George Todd Denny; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family and friends, including his lifelong friend Ryan Johnson and his family.
