David Lee Rugtvedt, 69, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 7, 2022, at the Liberty County Nursing Home. Cremation has taken place, and services are pending. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Liberty County Nursing Home. Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
David was born to Isaac and Doris Rugtvedt December 18, 1952, in Havre, Montana. David attended Rudyard elementary school and high school until 1969 when David, Doris, and stepfather Harry Sorensen moved to Great Falls. David then transferred to Charles M. Russell High School to finish his remaining years graduating in 1970.
David enlisted in the Navy after high school, ultimately getting a medical discharge in boot camp.
He moved back to his family home in Great Falls, living with his mother and his stepdad, Harry Sorensen. After his stepdad passed away in 1973, Doris and Dave moved back to Rudyard.
David worked at Sanvik's grocery store for a number of years and did odd jobs around Rudyard. After Doris passed away in 2001, David moved to Sweet Grass Lodge in Chester, Montana. There he worked, doing odd jobs for the manager of the facility and also worked for Circle K in Chester.
During Dave's time in Chester, he volunteered at the local museum. He loved meeting people, chatting with them, and showing all the museum's artifacts.
Dave moved to Liberty County Nursing Home in June 2022 where he passed away.
David was preceded in death by his mother Doris, his father Isaac, stepfather Harry and nephew Kevin Rugtvedt. He is survived by his siblings, Charles A. Rugtvedt of Issaquah, WA, Iris Buck of Carnation, WA, and Dennis Anderson of Rathdrum, ID; and several nieces, and nephews.
