Obituary

David Hamilton, who worked at the Havre Post Office as a clerk for 37 years, died January 30, 2012 due to complications from ALS. His quick smile and huge laugh will be missed by all who knew him. At his request, no services are planned. Dave, age 73, was born February 10, 1938 in Worland, WY to Keith and Dorothy (Taylor) Hamilton, where he was raised and educated. He served in the US Army for two years and moved to Glasgow, MT to work for J.C. Penney's. There he met and married Diane Cotton in 1961. They moved to Havre in 1970, where Dave worked at Liberty Loan, Gambles, and the U.S. Post Office, retiring in 2008. If you attended any social events in Havre and around the state, you would find Dave. He supported and enjoyed all theatre, musical events, and MSU-Northern Basketball. A special thanks to Jerry Malkuch who made sure Dave saw everything. Dave also enjoyed playing softball, golf, billiards, bowling, games and puzzles. He was an avid reader and enjoyed his poker group. He was actively involved in the Optimist Club in the 1970's. For many years he enjoyed lunch with the "Ladies". Dave was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Michael Hamilton. He is survived by his wife Diane of 51 years, his two children Deb (Craig Rundle) Hamilton and Mike (Sharnai) Hamilton of Havre, and his grandchildren Ashley (Joshua) Kejsar of Glasgow; Logan Zandhuisen and Mariah (Chris Buskirk) Zandhuisen, great-grandson Brayden Buskirk, all of Havre and mother-in-law Marvel Cotton of Glasgow.
