Obituary

Darvin R. Chambliss, 76, passed away due to natural causes at the Northern Montana Care Center on Friday, November 22, 2019. Cremation has taken place, and in accordance with Darvin's wishes, no services will be held. Darvin was born August 28, 1943, in Evansville, IN to Joseph and Lucille (Gray) Chambliss. He was raised in Evansville and East Gary. At the age of 17, Darvin entered the US Marine Corps and served for four years with an honorable discharge. Shortly after returning home, he met Judy. The couple married in 1967 in Hobart, IN, and together they raised five children. They made their home in Hobart, where Darvin took an apprenticeship for masonry and construction. In 1974, he moved his family to Kila, MT, to give them a better life. There he continued his masonry craftsmanship through the Flathead Valley, which includes Grouse Mountain Lodge, Outlaw Inn, and the Canadian Visitor Center at West Glacier Park, and many custom homes there. They remained in the Flathead Valley until 2015, when they relocated to Havre, MT.

Darvin enjoyed bowling, which included a tournament perfect game of 300, golfing, campfires, cribbage, fishing, and hunting where he tagged his trophy Boone & Crocket Montana Mule Deer. Darvin was a family man and a born-again Christian who loved the Lord.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Lucille Chambliss, and all but one of his siblings.

Darvin is survived by his wife of 52 years, Judy Chambliss, of Havre; children Michael G. (Mary) Nichols, Gary E. (Kim) Nichols, and Jeffery S. Nichols, all of Seattle, Brigitte M. Chambliss of Las Vegas, NV, and Clayton J. (Shannon) Chambliss of Havre; nine grandchildren; brother Ronald Chambliss of IN; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Our dad was a unique person like none other and will be missed by many!
