Darrin Wade Bernard-Caplette, White Eagle Man (Wah-pisk ki-iw Nah-pew), 41, passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2024.  Wake services will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, April 1, 2024, and will continue until his funeral service, which will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, all at St. Mary's Catholic Church.  Burial will follow at Eagle Lookout Cemetery.  Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.

Darrin was born on April 16, 1982, in Havre to Robert James Caplette and Brenda Bernard.  He was raised in Rocky Boy, attending school there.  In 1997, he began a relationship with Donita Hay, and the couple had four children, remaining together until his death.  Darrin attended Job Corps at Anaconda, and he graduated in 2007 with his high school diploma and his certificate in diesel mechanics, skills he put to great use for the rest of his life.  Immediately after graduation, he moved to Billings and worked for I State Trucking for about a year.  He returned home to Rocky Boy in early 2009 and began working for the tribal road department, eventually working for the Chippewa Cree Construction Corporation.

Darrin had so much love for music and dancing.  He was always so giving to everyone, his passion was his motorcycles, working in his garage and shop, just being in the moment of each day.  He loved to help other people work on their vehicles, as well, to give them a hand up.  Spending time with his family and friends was Darrin's favorite pastime, especially his children.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert James Caplette, Sr.; brothers, Dustin and Dolan Sunchild, and Thomas Bernard; adopted father, Victor Patacsil; uncle, Larry Bernard; and grandparents, Thomas and Rose Bernard, Ned SunChild, and Frank and Theresa Caplette.

Darrin is survived by his wife, Donita Hay-Caplette; six children, Lane (Tai) Caplette, Randall Parker, and Dacen, Heavenly Skye, and Darrin Caplette, Jr., and Shelby Rodriguez; grandson, Shiloh Caplette; mothers, Brenda Bernard and Kimberly Patacsil; siblings, Robert J. Caplette, Jr., Franklin T. (Traci) Caplette, April Dawn (Jeffrey Rodriguez) Caplette, Billy "Shaggs" Blatt, Kirstin Russell, Waylon Denny,and Elizabeth Patacsil; godfather, Thane Houle; godchildren, Kylinn Hay, Brooklyn Russell, Landen Caplette, Sire Crow, Shelby Rodriguez, and Asher Small; aunts, Dorothy (Ivan) Morning, Isabell Dotts, Margaret Bernard, Christine Blatt, and Violet Dawn SunChild; uncles, Darrell, Dallas (Pam), and Darin (Marva) SunChild; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
