Darrell was born March 5, 1967 in Renton, Washington to Clement and Elsie (Boehm) Hassa. When he was a young boy the family moved to Rudyard, Montana where Darrell grew up and attended schools. He graduated from Blue Sky High School in 1985. Darrell worked in the agricultural industry and was employed by Golden Triangle Seed, at the time of his death.
In 2010 Darrell met Jean Riding and her two kids Tanicha and Billy in Rudyard, MT and they remained as a family until his passing. Darrell loved to be in nature and would often take his family camping in his favorite places, vacationing in Glacier yearly and one time in Yellowstone. He talked most about their vacation trip where they went to crystal park to dig for crystals, and explore the ghost town Virginia City. Darrell was always the planner of these trips. He loved to go to all the kids' sports events and cheer them on. His proudest moments were teaching Tanicha how to drive in his pickup, watching her receive her high school diploma in 2019, watching Billy grow into an exceptional basketball player, and one fine young man. He enjoyed talking about basketball and challenging Billy to a shoot off. When he wasn't working or at home with his family, you would catch him at KLines laughing and reminiscing with friends. Darrell had a big heart, and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He would give the shirt off of his back to anyone who needed it. He was loved and liked by many.
Darrell was an avid sports fan always cheering on his favorites the Minnesota Vikings, L.A. Lakers, and Atlanta Braves. He also enjoyed NASCAR, with his favorite driver being Tony Stewart, who has since retired. He enjoyed living in the small community of Rudyard and living near his mother Elsie, allowed him to ensure that she was taken care of.
He was preceded in death by his Grandparents.
Darrell is survived by his mother Elsie Hassa of Rudyard; his life partner Jean Riding and their two children Tanicha & Billy; his brother David (Julie) Hassa of Havre, Montana and sister Colleen (Bill) Diemert of Malta. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
