Obituary

Daniel William "Weasel" Keller, 70, passed away on the farm due to natural causes on Tuesday, August 15, 2023.  A Rosary will be said for him at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 20, 2023, and funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 21, 2023, all at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church.  Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery.  Dan's family has suggested memorial donations be made in his memory to the Montana Hope Project, St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, or the charity of the donor's choice.  Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with services and arrangements.

Dan was born on December 17, 1952, in Havre to William and Juletta (Garding) Keller.  He was raised north of Havre, attending Cottonwood School through the eighth grade, and he graduated from Havre High School in 1971.  His love of farming had him working for several farmers north of Havre during his school years.  After high school, he hired on with Burlington Northern Railroad as a machinist, and worked for the railroad until his retirement in 2012.  In 1974, Dan married Launa Shrauger whom he had met in high school, and the couple farmed and ranched together for the next 49 years.  They were blessed in 1981 with their son, Travis Daniel Keller.  Unfortunately, Travis passed away after a long battle with neurofibromatosis.

Dan was a member of St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, Farmer's Union, and other organizations.  He generously volunteered his time, never complaining and always helping anyone.  He was especially dedicated to 4-H, having been a long-time 4-H participant.  Dan could fix anything, and often did.

He was preceded in death by his son, Travis Keller; parents, William and Juletta Keller; siblings, Carol, Ronald, Delbert, Neil, Clarence "Fritz" Keller; and LeRoy Keller; sister-in-law, Nancy Keller; parents-in-law, Sam and Jean Shrauger; and several nieces and nephews.

Dan is survived by his wife, Launa (Shrauger) Keller of Havre; sister-in-law, Kayette (Greg) Childree of Havre; siblings, Arlene Keller of Havre, Audrey Marston of Maine, Gerald (Shirley) Keller of Turner, Laura (Jerry) Kinsella of Havre, Mike (Paulette) Keller of Lloyd, Vic Keller of Billings, and Dennis (Gayle) Keller, Kenny Keller, and Lorraine (Steve) Don, all of Havre; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
