Daniel B. Friede, Sr. "Sun Boy", 56, of Rocky Boy, passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at Benefis Medical Center in Great Falls of natural causes. Wake services will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 10, 2014, at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Rosary services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 11, 2014, at St. Mary's, and the funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2014, also at St. Mary's, with Father Pete Guthneck officiating. Interment will follow in the Kuper Memorial Cemetery in Chinook. Daniel was born on Thanksgiving Day, November 28, 1957, in Shelby, Montana, half of a set of twins, to Ernest and Marie (Saddler) Friede. The boys were raised in Sunburst, and then in Rocky Boy, attending school in Rocky Boy. Following his school years, Danny entered the US Army, and was honorably discharged in 1977. Upon his return, he began dating Darla Belcourt, and the couple married in Rocky Boy in 1978. The couple settled in Rocky Boy, raising their three children there. Danny worked as a driver and heavy equipment operator for the Chippewa Cree Road Department for over 30 years. He also worked at Halliburton, and the last couple of years, he worked for Hunter Burns Construction. He was also well-known as a bouncer in local bars. He and his twin brother Harvey are known as the "Gentle Giants". Danny enjoyed fishing and hunting, dancing, watching football, especially the Seattle Seahawks, and spending time with his family. His grandchildren were his world - he loved them dearly. Daniel was preceded in death by his mother Marie (Saddler) Friede; his infant sister Peggy Friede; his grandson Cruz Friede; his grandparents; and many other beloved family and friends. He is survived by his wife Darla of Rocky Boy; his sons, Daniel (Ce Ce) Friede, Jr., Gabriel Jordan, and Reuben McDowell, all of Rocky Boy; his daughters Lindsey (Calvin) Jilot of Rocky Boy and Marissa (Jeremy) Jones of Havre; his father Ernest Friede of Rocky Boy; his brothers Harvey (Barb) and Howard Friede, all of Rocky Boy; his sisters, Cindy Lawrence, Ernestine (Chuck) Rosette, and Tricia Gardipee, all of Rocky Boy, and Alvina Friede of Havre; and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family and friends.
