Coretta was born on October 27, 1968, in Havre to James and Mary (Alexander) Denny. She was raised in Rocky Boy, attending school there. During her high school years, she enjoyed playing basketball and cheerleading. In 1989, Coretta married John Hobbs, and the couple had three children. In 1990, they obtained their GEDs together, and soon after relocated to Kicking Horse to attend Job Corps. After Job Corps, the couple returned to Rocky Boy, where they made their home, raising their children there. For most of her adult life, Coretta spent her time caring for her home and her family. She worked at the casino for a short period in the early 2000s.

Coretta was a family-oriented woman who enjoyed beading, arts and crafts, and berry picking. She was very social, enjoying any time spent with other people, but time with family was considered very precious.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Mary Denny; her sister Lorie Denny; and her infant brother Darren Denny.

Coretta is survived by her beloved husband John Hobbs, Sr., of Rocky Boy; her three children, James Hobbs, John (Tabitha Gopher) Hobbs, Jr., and Tashina Hobbs, all of Rocky Boy; her two grandsons, Justin Gopher and John Hobbs, III; her brothers Aaron Alexander of Great Falls, Dexter (Susan) Denny of Ft. Hall, ID, and Deland (Robin) Denny, Sr. of Rocky Boy; sisters Wyoma (Eli "Billy" Stokesberry) Denny, Candace (Tim) Littlevoice, and Georgina Denny, all of Rocky Boy, and Leah Denny of Fort Hall, ID; and numerous beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
