Obituary

Colen James "Bugz" Gibson, 43, died peacefully in his sleep on October 4, 2022, at his residence in Billings.  Wake services will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, and will continue until his funeral service, which will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 7, 2022, all at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church with Earl "Archie" Arkinson officiating.  Burial will follow in the Rocky Boy Cemetery.  Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.

Colen was born in Havre, Montana, on December 21, 1978, to Valeria Stump and James Desmond (JD) Gibson.  Colen attended school in Billings and graduated from Billings West High School. While in school he excelled in football, wrestling and boxing. He was a supervisor at Sugar Factory for many years before he worked as a roofer and firefighter.

Colen had a heart of gold. He was always ready to lend a hand to anyone. He made a lot of friends wherever he went. He gave a lot of things to the homeless on the streets in Billings, MT. He made sure his children came first. He was a great provider for his children and made sure they had things. He loved and cherished them with all his heart. Colen enjoyed joking around, teasing his family and was a very humble man. He helped raise his wife's sisters' children, Alicia, Enrique, and Antonia Torres and Antonio Merchant. All the kids just loved being around their beloved uncle and grandpa. He always made time for his children, sisters, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren and was active in coaching them in sports. He would also talk to them about his Cree ways. He loved to cook, where he had to use all the dishes in the house to make one of his famous dinner's and would get mad when we always ate soup and salad.

Colen was preceded in death by his mother, Valeria Stump Iron; his grandparents, Patrick and Julia (Wolf Walker) Stump; uncles, Darrell Stump, Leon Stump, Leslie Stump and Glenn Stump; aunties, Joyce Stump, Kathleen Stump, and Carmella Stump Not Afraid; his great-grandparents, John Stump & Sophie Indian; sisters, Sonya Sunchild, Sylvia Russette, Ursula Stump, Heather Not Afraid; and brother-in-law, Levi Beaumont.

He leaves behind the love of his life Lisa Martinez; his daughters, Octavia, Camille, Alejandra Gibson, and Josie Nava; sons, Desmond & Diego Gibson; sisters, Ashley (John) Gunshows, Deidhra Hill, Misty Beaumont, Julie (Danny) Three Irons, Shiree (Tyrone Sr.) Martinez, Vilene Not Afraid, Julia Stump, Janet (Paul) Chase of Rocky Boy, MT, Angie Martinez, Tita Martinez, and Dawn Martinez all of Billings, MT; brothers, Vidal Not Afraid Jr. of Billings, MT, Huck Sunchild of Rocky Boy, MT., Shawn Stump, Darrell Stump, Leslie Jr. (Sutherland) Stump, and Cree (Rose) Stump, all of Lame Deer, MT, and Danny (Diana) Martinez; auntie, Jobyna Stump; stepdad, McKinley Iron; and many nephews, nieces, and grandchildren all of Billings, MT.
