Carole was born in Havre, Montana on February 15, 1935, the second daughter of Eskel V. and Marguerite (Hazel) Lindelow.  She graduated with Havre High School's class of 1953 and attended Montana State University in Bozeman, where she met and married John S. Hill of Nashua, Montana at St. Jude Thaddeus church in Havre.  They divorced in 1975 and she returned home to Havre to complete her education degree at Montana State University-Northern.  She was one of Montana's last educators to work in a one-room schoolhouse at the Davey School and taught 4th grade at Box Elder School for over twenty years.  She loved teaching and drew much satisfaction from hearing from her former students over the years.  In 1987 she married her high school sweetheart, Bill Filler, and they enjoyed 17 happy years together.

Carole loved doting on her family with Easter egg hunts and Christmas Eve presents, and every chance to host lunch, dinner, and many cinnamon rolls and cookies in between.  She was an avid reader and gardener who loved her roses and her dogs (especially Prince William aka Willy), and later in life enjoyed spending time with the "Silver Sneakers", the St. Jude's women's group and keeping in touch with her friends from high school.

She often called her four daughters her greatest and proudest achievement in life.  She is survived by Linda (Dee) Bond; Lisa (Randy) Hinebauch; Margaret (Ricardo Steiner) Hill, and Maria (Travis) Borlaug.  She was a loving grandmother to Lynsey Blair, Hillary (LD) Cornell, Eric (Jen Creed) Hinebauch, Emily (Tyler) Hewitt, Evan (Malia) Hinebauch, Ethan (Megan) Hinebauch, Eli Hinebauch, Elizabeth (Max) Peterson, Alissa (Paul) McClendon, Keevan Borlaug, Shayla Borlaug and her great grandchildren Lee Walker Cornell, Vivianne Cornell, Barrow Hill Cornell, Kiera Hinebauch, Barrett Hinebauch, Emmett Hinebauch, and Norman Hewitt. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister and brother-in-law Margaret and Willis (Mac) McClarty, and her husband William (Bill) Filler.
